Camping
Camping is an outdoor recreational activity and a fun way to get family and friends together to enjoy the outdoors. Camping is also a great opportunity to do physical activity such as walking, hiking, biking, or swimming. Here is a “short list” of camping essentials that should always be packed.
Always be prepared for the unexpected so before you leave, check the weather report, learn about security at your camp location, and tell family and friends what your plans are. Enjoy your camping and remember always pitch camp before dark.
- A tent. Try pick a model that sleeps double the number of people you plan to sleep, so you have enough space to relax and not be too cramped.
- A canopy. Pitching a canopy in front or next to your tent, will give you shade oh those hot days and also keep you sheltered if it should rain.
- A sleep Mat or blow up mattress is a must, for both comfort and warmth.
- Wet wipes. When it comes to hygiene, you can just wipe yourself down, top to bottom, every morning if you don’t want to shower.
- A pot, pan, dishes, utensils, and fire-starting materials (preferably waterproof matches or a butane lighter)
- A utility knife and length of rope.
- Outside lighting such as torches and plenty of batteries.
- Plenty of water.
- Energy rich, easily prepared foods and snacks (think items like pasta, beans, ground beef, peanut butter, chicken, trail mix, and oatmeal)
- Enough clothing (a good rule of thumb in temperate areas is enough for two to three layers daily)
- A tight-closing cooler box to store your food items in.
- Optionally, outdoor gear like fishing poles and hiking equipment.
