Guy Fawkes Night
Guy FawkesNight (more commonly known as Bonfire Night, Cracker Night and sometimes Fireworks Night) is an annual celebration on the evening of the 5th of November. It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5 November 1605 in which a number of Catholic conspirators, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, England. The anniversary was named after Guy Fawkes, the most famous of the conspirators. Guy Fawkes Day, November 5, is still celebrated in England with fireworks and bonfires, on which effigies of the conspirator are burned. Guy Fawkes' Day is not a public holiday. Businesses, organizations and schools are open as usual. Due to its proximity to Halloween, many people organize a combined party for Guy Fawkes Night and Halloween.
Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot,
I know of no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot
