Energy Saving Tips
- The geyser in your home is one of the major energy users. To reduce the energy consumption you can reduce the temperature on the thermostat to 55ºC.
- Turn off the appliances such as TV, VCR, stereo or radio when not in use.
- Do not leave lights on in empty rooms and switch off non essential lights especially when going to bed at night.
- Unplug cell phone chargers and other non-essential items when not in use. They will still draw electricity, even if not powering a product.
- Don't use the toilet as a wastebasket or ashtray - it wastes water every time you flush it.
- Close the fridge door every time you take something out or put something in. Check your fridge door seals regularly to ensure that they seal properly.
- Fill the kettle with only enough water for the amount you need instead of boiling a full kettle.
- Energy saving light bulbs can save you lots of money.
- Run a dishwasher with a full load of dishes and air dry.
- When using a heater make sure the windows and doors are closed. Adjust the temperature to a comfortable level when full heat is not needed.
- Wash your clothes in cold or warm water and rinse them in cold water. Use a cold water detergent and air dry clothes.
- Take a shower instead of a bath and you'll use less hot water.
